Dragon Age: Origins – Review – Xbox 360

Story: (If Applicable) Like Most RPG’s Dragon Age Origins has the good versus evil. An all out war is starting between the factions of Ferelden. Think Lord of the Rings. The Dwarves, The Humans and the Elves are going against the Darkspawn.
Gameplay: The game starts out letting you pick your race. You can choose from Human, Dwarf or Elf. Within the 3 races you can choose the Noble or the Commoner, each with its own story line. The game is a Third-Person RPG. The game looks like it has the Two Worlds/Fallout/Oblivion Engine. The combat system is a free-form one. The leveling system is the same as any other RPG. The Combat system seems unflawed at first glance. As you get further into the game you will get used to it but the problems that I have experienced is that it sort of lags to the touch of the A button. Sometimes you will press the button but nothing happens. The game uses a party system, with a total of 4 allies battling at the same time. If they are incapacitated, when you clear the area of enemies, they will return to life. At each settlement, you may switch up you party. The races allow you to morph into 4 different things, The Golem, The Mouse, The Burning Man, and the Spirit. The Golem is the strongman that can destroy heavy doors, the mouse is the thing that can crawl into tiny holes, The Burning man is the one that can walk through fire, and the spirit is the form that allows you to see hidden doors/objects. These transformations also have the lag problem. If you move the sticks or anything, they will stop and you have to restart the process, which is just opening a radial wheel and choosing them, but still. Each of the story lines have multiple endings, and there are achievements for getting certain ones, and all possible ones.
Graphics/Sound: The Graphics are quite variable in the game. From other RPG’s, come the spell casting animations and the like. They are really some good graphics I really haven’t seen many problems with them. The one thing I have noticed, is that every once in awhile the game will show text on the screen (if you have subtitles enabled) and there is no one speaking at the time, and then it moves onto the next frame of words. From the world of Hollywood, Tim Curry, Kate Mulgrew, Claudia Black, and Steve Valentine have lent their voices to characters in the game.
Multi-player: There isn’t any multi-player online or off
Overall: Overall I am having fun with the game. it’s worth the $60 that I spent on it. Replay Value is high if you want to get a full 1000 gs on it.
Pros: HUGE story RPG, everyone can’t resist them Cons Slow load times Merchants are scarce No place to store weapons though the game does give an inventory of 70 items in your party
Score: 7.5/10
