Let the Unrivalry begin

A couple weeks ago, I heard the name “NBA Unrivaled” online.   I was immediately intrigued, wondering if  we were going to get served with a sequel to the venerable NBA Jam series.  I have many fond memories of Playing the NBA Jam/Showtime series on Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast.

NBA Unrivaled is an arcade basketball game published by Tecmo and developed by A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games, now available on XBLA and PSN for 1200 points or $14.99 respectively.  Any NBA Jam sequel would come out of Warner Bros, who purchased Midway Games in July of this year.  NBA Unrivaled will feature many of the gameplay staples that made NBA Jam great, so be sure to check out the demo on the Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Network and let us know what you think!

I remember unleashing beast mode (literally) with my custom player in NBA Showtime.  His name was Bubba.  He was as tall as I could make him, and gave new meaning to the “charging” penalty.  Bubba had a cow head, you see.

Do you have a memorable and/or weird custom character from back in the day?
