Hackers Unlock Hidden Modern Warfare 2 Game Modes
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been out all of a week-and-a-half, and hackers are already cracking the PC version wide open. The first victory was unlocking the developer console (which has been freely accessible in almost every FPS since Doom and Wolfenstein 3D), and everything else has followed from there. Hackers have also been able to implement dedicated servers, a major omission from the PC version of Modern Warfare 2.
The latest discoveries are 4 hidden game modes (Arena, Global Thermonuclear War, One Flag Capture the Flag, and VIP (VIP mode is non-functioning)), along with several maps and kill-streak rewards. These discoveries were made by Infinity Ward Forum member EON8. Were these slated for later sale as DLC, or simply unfinished/unpolished maps and modes that were disabled prior to launch?
No doubt Infinity Ward and Steam will be working to counteract these “hacks”. It is possible that using these “hacks” could get your game’s CD Key, or even your whole Steam account banned sometime in the future, which would be a costly experiment!
