Kingdom For Keflings – Review – PC
Does the Kingdom grow or crumble?
Well, I don’t really know where to start Keflings has a great premise and is incredibly interesting at the start although as I got deeper into the Kingdom. Plagues became apparent. Kingdoms is an RTS game of sorts, well it attempts to be. Don’t get me wrong its a lot of fun in a fantasy cartoon way. My only realy gripe with the actual game is the poor mechanic choices, for example — My workers or well settlers in my kingdom do my various needs, farm wood/ore and gems ext ext. Like most RTS games right…? Not quite. My giant fellow I basically have to gander around and pick up the wood/ore and bring it to home base. No biggie right? Of course not. It really isn’t but it eventually becomes incredibly tedious? Why don’t my villagers do that for me so I can focus on building? Basically the building of structures in the game works in the sense that. Craft at your ‘homebase’ you using your giant fellow picks up the pieces places it somewhere and as you go to collect the other piece a little blueish square appears next to the proper location of the building you are creating. Make sense? Its nifty way to build stuff, but throw that together with having to grab different resources and return them to you’re Castle? It gets annoying epically when you get a good base going. Which is frustrating. Now don’t get me wrong at first I didn’t mind having to do what I had to do too farm? Y’know? But like it seems the game can’t decide if this game is trying to be like farmville or a RTS. After working at it for quite some time. It just feels like its undecided. It really reminds me of farmville/we rule and I hate farmville. All in all its an interesting game if you like that genre, but I can’t really say its a good game? It’s an OK game. I’m not sure the pricepoints or how much it is, but I know its downloadable on PC and XBL.
Closing Comments and Final Thoughts
The Presentation: The presentation of Kingdom for keflings is alright for what your getting into, the tutorial isn’t really in depth its more just the basic the rest is well farmville.
The Graphics: The graphics are better then any other farmville clone out there I have seen personally. There cartoon and some of the Keflings are pretty humorous looking.
The Sounds: Sounds are alright some of the characters get annoying and are mute worthy. I ended up usually restorting to my iTunes.
The Gameplay: Farmville style gameplay with a stranger toss up on production and creation.
Final Comments
If you like farmville or games like farmville well you’ll like Kingdom for Keflings. It seems borderline confused at if it wants to be an RTS or Farmville. Its an OK game. I’d also like to note I really don’t like writing short reviews but there isn’t really much to go over in this type of game where as in others I can go into much more detail.
