Rise of the Eldrazi Levelers’ Scorn & Levelers’ Glory Intro Packs – Review – Magic Cards

Levelers’ Scorn & Levelers’ Glory Intro Packs

By Justin Dufour

Magic The Gathering is certainly full of surprises. Just when you think you have seen some interesting cards, boom you see something new. These intro packs are very interesting introducing a few new tricks.

First, let me talk about what you get. Unlike a normal deck which gives you a preset 60 cards, these come with 41 cards and 1 booster pack. I personally love the idea; it gets you started on your way to making the strongest deck that you can possibly create. The 41 card deck that you get is no push-over either; it acts as a perfect starting to get you on your way.

Now let’s talk about those new tricks. The first of which I have come across is an ability called level up. Simply put, your creature starts weak but, with every few turns, will become stronger. If you combine a card with level up and enchant him/her with a card that can give +3/+3, then you will evidently end up with a very strong card. Level up is a very neat concept, and if strategically used properly, could definitely prove to be a game winner.

Now let’s talk about some abilities that I came across that I personally haven’t seen before. A brand new ability on sorcery’s called rebound lets you replay that card from exile at no cost during your next upkeep. Therefore, you could really turn the tables on your opponent if you get one of these cards.

Another ability I came across was Annihilator 2. I just want to say wow! Annihilator is correct. The power reads as follows “Anytime creature attacks, defending player sacrifices 2 permanents.” All I can say is that, if you get a card with this power, your opponent is in deep trouble because you can wipe out their field without even needing to do anything. With this in combination with a really powerful creature, you can win the battle quite easily.

A new power has been added to some enchantments called totem armour. It is a neat little ability. It saves your creature if your creature was going to be destroyed and instead, the enchantment is destroyed.

I would like to say that these new abilities, in combination with enchantments and stronger cards, definitely will make the game of magic flow very interestingly and make the strategy that you must come up with even more intense.

I give these decks 8 out of 10.

I am definitely looking forward to what Wizard surprises us with next for the game of Magic.
