Naughty Bear – Review – Xbox 360
Have you ever been so pissed off that you just want to annihilate your teddy bear? Have you ever had an idea to make a crazy game out of the toys that you played with during your demented childhood? This game allows you some peace of mind while you play it.
Story: You play as a stuffed teddy bear named Naughty Bear. The game starts out with a cut-scene where it is another bear’s birthday, but he wasn’t invited to the party. He has a gift and when he brings it around the other bears, he is teased, and soon snaps. The Narrator gives the idea that naughty bear should punish them for teasing him.
Gameplay: The game is a Third Person Hack N. Slash. You can pick up items such as bats, bear traps, knives, and guns. Each has a different execution. Each level there are set goals and some optional ones. The point of the game is to score as many points as possible by breaking, killing, and finding objects. If you break many items during a short time, you gain a multiplier of up to x75. I have not died yet playing the game, you can pick up cake which is a health item and abundant throughout the levels. The controls are pretty simple to figure out, if you get confused they also give a prompt on screen telling you to pick up, kill, etc. There are 35 levels to the game, each divided into Episodes of 5 missions. There are 1 story mission and 4 challenges to complete. There are 31 different character skins to play as, each having its own different stats. You can fail at the challenges, some of them require you not to hit anyone. When you do fail, the enemies actually sit there and laugh at you which is pretty funny.
Graphics/Sounds: Overall the graphics seem cartoonish, which is to be expected. The music is a sing song happy tune. The pause menu has a heavy drum beat, sounds kind of like a jungle beat. I haven’t really seen any problems with either of the categories.
Multiplayer: There are 4 types of Multiplayer available over your preferred console of choice. Cake Walk, Assault, Golden Oozy, and Jelly Wars. Assault and Jelly Wars are basically attack and defend matches Assault you defend and attack the opponents statue. Jelly Wars is one team trying to bring jellies to the mixing machine, while the other tries to stop them. Golden Oozy is basically like Golden Gun mode in any 007 video game. Cake Walk is a game where one person finds and holds the golden cupcake the longest.
Overall: Most people are shying away from the game because of what the game play looks like. I, on the other hand, am enjoying maiming all of the bears and playing the game. If you want to play something off the wall and try to stray away from the norm, this games for you.
Pros:
- fun!
- laughable moments
- easy achievements
Cons:
- gets repetitive after awhile
- people are turned off by the gameplay vids have to test it out yourself
Score: 8.5 out of 10
