Goldeneye – Review – Wii

Duh duh duh neh neh neh Duh duh duh neh neh neh duh duh neh neh neh neh neh BANG

Story: you play as James Bond, super spy who just lost his partner, Alec Trevelyn or 006, in a botched attempt to destroy a Soviet weapons facility. In the midst of that event, you are alerted of the Janus Corporation and the Goldeneye satellite, an EMP. It is your job to disable or destroy the satellite and find out who is the mastermind behind Janus.

Gameplay: The game mirrors the first game for the N64. It is a FPS, though the controls seem a little backwards. The A and B buttons are reversed and they added a melée button (will show on screen if you are stealthy and aren’t seen. There are quick time events instead of watching the plane almost crash. Some of the events are inaccurate according to the movie. In the game, Xenia Onnatopp killed Valentin Zuchovsky, though he wasn’t killed in the movie. They added a few levels and stuff to fill more time. They also brought back the time trial mode.

Sound/Graphics: Daniel Craig and Judy Dench reprise their roles as Bond and M, with Craig also using his image as the Bond, instead of Pierce Brosnan’s who was in the original. People who were left out of the game were Robby Coultraine and Sean Bean. They also included the blood oozing down the screen. Each of the levels look great; from the snow levels, to te jungle, to the nightclub.

Multiplayer: there are around 10 different modes of play such as Golden Gun, team deathmatch and deathwatch. There are 50 playable characters. Rank system is based on points and unlocks are based on rank. Each match holds 16 players, 2 teams of 8 in team games.
Overall: if you liked cheating as Oddjob, want to relive the game again, love Bond, or want cool swag this is a good game.

Pros:
Cool swag (golden controller, “cheater”. T-shirt with Oddjob hat)
Memories

Cons:
Wii exclusive
Same old story
