The Sims 3 Expansions Review
GamersGate was kind enough to give us the important Sims 3 Expansions for review. If you’re interested in Late Night, Generations, Ambitions, or World Adventures, this is the place to look. We’ve played with all four and know which ones are worth your money. Each adds something different so if you’re particularly pressed for money you should know what is in each one and which one is most important for you. Keep reading to find out our opinion.
Sims 3 Late Night
We booted up Late Night and opened up the new city, Bridgeport which is divided into three areas an urban, downtown area, a less dense uptown area, and an affluent hilltop suburb. The major additions are clubs and bars along with new careers and traits. With the addition of skyscrapers come elevators and apartments for your sim if they would like to live downtown. New careers include music band, mixologist, director, or celebrity. More cars are added along with luxury hot tubs among various other modern items.
Honestly, the addition of careers is nice, and the city is a great, scenic place to live in. The addition of new careers and locations to visit definitely make this one stand out among the rest. The simple addition of all of these things makes creating a new sim enjoyable. If you’re looking to start over, this is the way to go as an entirely different lifestyle is literally at your fingertips. Live the life of a bachelor, and go clubbing, as you grow in fame to the point of being a star.
Score: 9/10
Sims 3 Ambitions
A career oriented expansion pack Ambitions adds exciting career paths some that even allow you to directly control their day to day business. You see with the addition of these jobs such as a doctor, where you can attend house calls and heal your patients or be more devious and experiment on them to find some interesting results. You face similar challenges if you choose the firefighter or investigator career path. The artistic should rejoice as sims can now express themselves and make a living off of it. Become a sculptor, inventor, or even and architect and help shape the city around you. This also adds the town Twinbrook which too features new characters and stories to go with it.
Another expansion worthy of your money, especially if you’re just getting into Sims. The ability to control your sims everyday work definitly means you do a lot more as before you simply fast forwarded through all of that time and only received updates every once in a while. The ability to actually have your sims create content and being able to slowly become famous while doing so is an interesting premise. One that we liked to experiment with.
Score: 8.5/10
Sims 3 Generations
This is probably the most basic out of the four expansions we’re reviewing today. Generations simply expands on what is already there. It adds things for each stage of your sim’s life, such as imaginary friends, parties, dating, etc. The more interesting additions include cloning and chemistry.
Honestly this is probably something you can pass up on, it doesn’t add much besides a couple of things here and there all of which are by no means essential to improving your experience with Sims 3.
Score: 6.5/10
Sims 3 World Adventures
The major focus of World Adventures is the creation of vacation and all the possibilities that come with that. Your sim will be able to travel to France, China, or Egypt and go on a myriad of adventures such as nectar making, martial arts, and snake charming. A large focus was placed on tomb raiding as you need to work through each room which contain traps, dive holes, and switches. However, during their adventure. Its certainly a change in pace that we welcome but the only problem is actually finding time for your sim do do this. Managing to save up enough money and take the time off from work means that its really hard to unlock the highest visa which in turn lets you go on longer vacations. World Adventures is passable, but if you’re looking for something new for your sim to do this is the way to go.
Score: 7.5/10
Again thanks to GamersGate for giving us the copies to review.
