Rumor: Fable IV On The Way – To Release In 2013

Lionhead Studios just recently closed out a trilogy with Fable III and since then people have been looking for whats next in the franchise. They recently announced a built-for-Kinect installment in Fable: The Journey which set many hard core fans off. Well the good news is it sounds like we can relax because according to Official Xbox Magazine (October 2011) Fable IV is coming in 2013. “Look for the Fable cycle to continue with a proper, controller-based Fable IV in 2013 , says The Ball…”

Pretty sure this is good news to all, although I suppose some will inevitably be unhappy. What improvements do you want to see in Fable IV?

I think fable 4 should have more armor and outfits, NPC being more interactive with the hero, the ability to name your hero, more weapons (not the same throughout the game and NO GUNS), more space, and make the game a little bit more difficult. I can beat fable 3 in one day. Fable 1 i just beat it yesterday and i’ve had it for 5 years. (i wasn’t playing it everyday) or you could make fable three about the old kingdom or all the missing story pieces that don’t make sense like the time period between fable 1 and 2. Like the fall of the guild. that would really be a fun game. i guess to me but if the makers actually listened to the gamers then the games wouldn’t be such a disapointment. THIS IS FABLE not trash, so don’t treat it like it. WE DESERVE a better game than fable three and two. OH ps make more attractive characters in the game i can never find a decent husband ;)

I think you should be able to choose your own crest for your Kingdom, put the crest on your armour and also be able to customise your army’s uniform. (I.e The colour of it like red and blue and whether you want your crest on your army’s uniform.) Maybe even their weapons, but that would just be a bonus.

Everything has been good this far, just don’t make a big mistake and place the timeline of fable to far on a modern world because that would take the “fable” heart of the game franchise. Bigger game with more free roaming with time expanding exploration- optional to have a pet would be amazing, and also would be awesome if you could style your own hero more vividly. More interesting quest that doesn’t only give renown points but more gear or legendarry weapons. More beautiful and exiting weapons would attract a lot of fans- pluss more adolescent features like adult dialog and contents would be exiting.

Candyman, all of your ideas are good, and I would aslo think they should upgrade the fighting system and weapons. I mean come on, only three types of attacks?!

  • Guest

Also I would love to see Samarkland as another place to visit, the place where Garth and Sythe still live. (I think sythe lives there because of Rose’s letter in fable 2

Weapon customisation, such as choose what handle style, colour, Material etc. also; I didn’t like the trading system in Fable 3, it should go back too the way it was in Fable 2 + dual wielding weapons should also be an option. Albion also needs to larger. You should be able to choose what kid of dog you want and choose it’s attributes instead of finding books to improve it. Crossbows should be re-introduced and MAKE THE GAME LONGER! :-)

As much as I love the Fable Franchise, i’m going to be honest. The quality of the games have really decreased since the release of fable 1. It was practically revolutionary for the gaming industry. It had a well put together combat and experience system, good graphics for its time, and not to mention a kick ass storyline. The second game raised the bar with more side quests, customizable features, choices, property and marital features, and much more. But I’m not going to pretend it was perfect. It ditched armor rating and had one of the shortest main storylines ever in an RPG. It couldn’t have taken me more than 4 hours to beat the game. And then came fable 3. It had almost no new features, at least no good features. The sanctuary was cool for a while, but overall it’s useless. They didn’t do anything different with the dog, or armor system. And not to mention the shopping. They made it much harder than in the previous games. Instead of looking at a long list of purchasable items, you see 1-4 items max sitting out on the counter.

I ran out of space so I’m going to have to continue on this. In fable 3 the weapons lacked any variety at all and they could only be made better through their upgrades, limiting how you can augment your weapon. Last but not least, their piece of crap experience system. Not only is their only 3 ways to upgrade your character removing much of the complexity, but also you have to get to a certain point in the main quest line to do it. What kind of bull is that? My hopes for fable 4 are set pretty low. If lionhearted can’t get their shit together soon, then they are going to fall. Some suggestions for fable 4 are changing back the experience system in the first 2 fables, adding new kinds of weapons like scythes, axes, etc., and one thing I hold very dear to my heart, going backwards in time rather than forwards. Fable 3 was already so close to modern times I don’t want to even know how screwed up gameplay might get if they m

      • Urbaneblue

Move forward in time again. They should mix it up a little. Go back to the beggining and follow a new bloodline or just move back to the origins of heroes and focus on the very first one just so we get more info on what heroes really are and how they came to be. Honestly I really don’t care which, just try not to fuck it up again lionhead!!!

I agree with you entirely! While the new magic controls are nice, we pretty much lose any reason to get new armor and the experience system is a nightmare. I also miss the sheer impact the player’s choices had on their appearance, the glowing eyes, the horns, and the red fog was awesome. The weapon choice in Fable 3 is pitiful, you have a choice between a sword and a hammer… Really? Fable 1 had TONS of different weapons. My biggest problem with the path Fable is going is guns, the bows in Fable 1 were at least challenging to use because we had to actually draw it back before firing. I honestly think Fable 4 needs to be set in the Old Kingdom that we heard so much about.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Fable franchise and I can’t wait for the next one but they need to change the system used in Fable 3. Some of the ways to improve, I couldn’t get because I didn’t have enough seals to unlock the chests and that has to change. The weapons need have a bigger choice and please don’t take it much further into the future! I was a fan of the swords and magic; I don’t want it to become another game full of guns. Apart from that, it’s pretty great! Good job!

I miss the times of fable 1. You could die in that one, causing you to actually try in the game.the magic had a depletion bar so you couldn’t spam. It had both a wonderful weapon and armor selection. Your morality in the game was great and you could unlock a special weapon depending on if you were good or evil. When you found chests on average it was an exciting event because there was alway good equipment unlike in fable 2 and 3 where every chest in the game is just gold. The story itself was compeling and stuck with you making you want to complete the game. The game was great for multiple play throughs as well. Also it was more mythical being in the olden times. with the new fable games going towards modern time at break neck speed fable has lost most of its charm and really only the stead fast fans of the first game are keeping Fable from flopping.

i would like to see more quest or interactions with the other special charcters, its like they just disappear. also more responsibilitys as king/queen and more creatures to fight. fable 3 had way to many loading screens! and fable 2 had a slighty better storyline because it stayed with that whole hero thing unlike fable 3 and “the darkness”

    • fablefan2

aside from some glitches in fable 2 it was good and they should stay near that style and time period and the fucked up bower lake!!! and bowerstone theyre shit now

@ Fable 3, fuck the gloves and i agree 1000% with Urbaneblue

They definitely need to work in more RPG elements. Fable IV needs to be big and I mean BIG! They need to do away with that zone loading shit and let the player be able to walk uninterrupted to a destination on the other side of the world if they damn well want too! That’s what makes and RPG and RPG. The feeling as if you really lived in that world.
Also, they need to put in a crafting system such as WoW or Skyrim. The player should be able to get the base materials and turn them into stunning pieces of Armor. A good crafting system adds on hours of game play. Lionhead really needs to look at fable in a different light. They’ve done amazing things with it don’t get me wrong. Such as the sarcastic goofy humor they put into the NPCs and story line but they still need to improve upon it! Adding in the nooks and crannies that RPGs are famous for is the difference between a raging success and a catastrophic failure. Since Fable is of the magical nature, having the ability to enchant weapons would most likely please Fable fans.
Side quests are also very, very important. The side quests in Fable III were mostly the relationship quest which were repetitive and dreadfully boring. These side quests should also contain moral choices and should have a noticeable affect on the Fable map. Such as new and/or changed building, towns, cities, etc. Speaking of cities, Bowerstone should be completely accessible. Nothing has annoyed me more than seeing the loading screens of Bowerstone and knowing that the city is infinitely larger than the playable areas.
Lionhead should really take its time and research other successful RPG franchises and use that knowledge to improve upon there own. Or they could go on thinking they know everything and continue to piss off all the fans. The choice is theirs.

I sure hope they have better clothes, can move your furniture, can dress your children better and interact better with people.your the hero and ur family should look the begger rats.. damn in fable 3 I married elliot and my kids looked like bums… ugh it was a mess.. I think we should beable to dress them.

  • http://twitter.com/Hector_newcomb Hector newcomb

    Ok here are my ideas
1.i think it should stay in this heros life it going to far into the future we want swords not machine guns
2.Stic with the same hero exept make in so the darkness from the journey saps him of his powers or something so it can start with a clean slate
3.Like the others say change the experience back to how it was in fablee 2
    4.Less clothing more armor
5.Add a new continent so we can have more freedom
6.since garth was a will user like theresa he should be able to live as long as her
7.make it so we can reclaim towns from the corruption since in the journey hes the antagonis hes most likely going to still be around
8.add more heros not just reaver and the protagonis
9.The weapon system had good potential but was a mess either work it out or change it back
10 lastly upgrade the a.l for the villagers and add a little more variety to them and fix the child system so they wont have a random race make it so they match the parents like a white wife wont make a black child
Well that sums it up on how to fix the series

wait one more add a few boss fights like in fable and a strong final boss witcontinentsh a choice that affects the final outcome like the sword of aeons or theresa choice and speaking of the choice system keep it how it is when your king in 3 but make it so that system is applied to all choice moments

be nice to hit one button to repair all houses with one button. Be nice to dress kids and spouse. you are the hero your family shouldnt look like bums, i mean elliot looked good but our kids looked like little begger kids. need more interaction talk with the town people.. And I want to move my furniture around.. something look dumb. beat fable 3 then just wanted to decorate house after awhile and couldnt which is stupid…Bring back the list of sale items and seemed most shops sold same thing…

  • Lustfulvamp13

i agree with pretty much everything but the one thing I want to say is make normal people fable 2 & 3 was pointless to have the option of a family when everyone looks like they got dressed like on shrooms fable 1 was nice by making everyone normal also bring back the horns i hate making a evil guy in F3 cause he looks he has the flu or something

  • Lustfulvamp13

i actually kinda like the no armor rating cause then you can wear whatever you want instead of like in fable 1 where no matter how I was playing I always had plate armor on the only difference was bright, dark, or normal…… by the way I dont suppose anyone found that black plate armor with the assassin mask that they taught during the lionhead credit

The one thing I hope they fix in Fable 4 is the way that you are basically punished for being bad.
In Fable 2, when you committed crimes, you had to do a simple community service task and all was forgiven. In Fable 3, that’s no more, and you have to work to earn money. While that is all fine and dandy, it is extremely annoying when you have racked up 20k in funds that you need to pay back, and it doesn’t help that the time goes extremely slow.
Also, I much prefer the way you earned exp and how you got to spend it in Fable 2. The road to rule thing is garbage in my opinion.

Yout should be able to chose if you come Frome elves or orcs or shit like that, and have all different story lines, Fable two sucked, the third was better but the first was the best.
