Hunting For the Next Generation of Consoles
Well, the rumors didn’t go away for very long. There seemed to be a lull in rumors surrounding the next wave of consoles towards the end of 2011, but only weeks into 2012 the most in depth rumor emerged detailing system specs.
There have been rumors that the next generation of consoles will be announced at E3 and there have been rumors that say that they won’t. However, all signs do point to 2013 being an important year. Whether we have the consoles in our hands or the developers do, one thing is for sure, Halo 4 is coming, and Microsoft has to make it be a huge success.
Those on the hunt for knowledge regarding the next Xbox need only to pay attention. If there is a new console coming next year, expect many of the reveals this year to cite “Fall 2013″ or later. Launching a game just months before the next console releases is typically viewed as a bad thing, especially with all the hubbub about post release downloadable content. No developer or publisher is going to be willing to release something just months before a new console comes out because that would mean sacrificing some post release support.
This year’s E3 will be the telltale sign however. If Microsoft just comes out and announces their next console, then there’s your answer, if not, just watch the games that are announced for next year, there are signs to be read.
