Zombies seem to infest the gaming world these days. From World War 2 Germany to present day Las Vegas, the games seem to be multiplying. Does this arcade game get swarmed by the horde or does it woo the horror genre’s fans? Story: you play as Chuck Greene, a professional racer who stops for gas near Vegas. As you go in to pay, you notice that there isn’t anyone in the station and when you attempt to leave your truck is stolen. You are stranded in a zombie infested town called Still Creek, population 753, with your daughter, Katey, who is in the first stages of zombification. Your job is to find Zombrex, medication that slows the process, and ultimately escape before the army arrives 13 hours from the start of the story. Gameplay: the game is a third person open world hack and slash. Like Dead Rising, you can use anything around as a weapon with the added feature of combining items to make special ones that give you bonus points per kill. The game still has a leveling system, though the cap is 5+ (meaning to level 6, but not changing the number). Your level does transfer over into the retail game (Dead Rising 2). You can aid other survivors, some of them are mandatory in the story, among them is the Pawn Shop owner. He sells some of the special weapons that you can make and even Zombrex! The game is quite short, though you can replay the story over and over. Gameplay is roughly about an hour to an hour and a half to get through one time. Each time you beat the game, you can carry over your leveled character to the next playthrough, until you reach level 5+. Graphics/Sounds: The game’s design looks quite a bit like the first one, except of course its in the desert. The moans and groans and whooshes of weapons flying through the air, even the slot machines being played sound cool, though remind me of the first game. Chuck Greene is voiced by Peter Flemming. There seems to be a problem with the loading screens though it may be just me. Whenever you try and save or load the screen stays still for 15-30 seconds before it registers that you pressed the button to do so. Overall: If you enjoy the flesh-eating zombies or the thousands of ways to dispose of people, or if you just want to gain an easy 200 gamerscore, this is the game! Pros: Carry over leveling easy achievements Cheap to buy Fun ways to kill people Cons: no multiplayer loading/saving problem Short story Score: 7.5 out of 10 This game was purchased by the reviewer.

Capcom brings courtroom action to the (comparatively) big-screen on January 11th, 2010… This WiiWare port of the Nintendo DS classic will cost 1,000 Wii Points, and feature episode 1 through 4 of the inaugural Ace Attorney title. Episode 5, which was included in the original DS version, will be released as DLC in May 2010 for an additional 100 Wii Points. In celebration of the brand new year we’re starting things off with the release of a must-have fan favorite – Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for WiiWare. The game will be available for download on Monday, January 11, 2010 and will cost 1,000 Wii Points. This is the original court adventure that started it all and made Pheonix Wright one of the most celebrated characters in the Capcom universe. Players will collect evidence, weed through inconsistent testimonies and overcome corrupt agendas to ensure that justice prevails! Present evidence with the wave of the Wii remote or press suspicious testimonies by wiggling it. These games can be played via single-player and has multiple save slots. The story kicks off with Phoenix Wright defending his childhood friend Larry Butz from a murder charge. But this is only the beginning drama for the tenacious legal eagle as Wright faces unexpected tragedies that will test the limits of his incredible deductive prowess.
Capcom brings courtroom action to the (comparatively) big-screen on January 11th, 2010…

This WiiWare port of the Nintendo DS classic will cost 1,000 Wii Points, and feature episode 1 through 4 of the inaugural Ace Attorney title.

In May, owners of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be able to download the bonus episode that appeared in the original Nintendo DS™ version of the game. It will cost 100 Wii Points.

Also, Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS: Miles Edgeworth is getting a playable DS demo in a few weeks. It will be available for download on the Nintendo Channel. Stay tuned for the release date on that. And remember, the new Ace Attorney INVESTIGATIONS: Miles Edgeworth ships on February 16, 2010.

Capcom has revealed an interesting bit of game history. While you may think the upcoming Dark Void is the newest next-gen IP from Capcom, it’s actually not! Full details and game-play trailer after the jump. As the ‘80s were drawing to a close, the developers at Capcom began work on a top secret project that aimed to set new standards for the platformer genre. That game was called “Dark Rift”, and it blended the intense shooting action of Section Z™ with the latest innovations in platform jumping from Mega Man. In order to properly fulfill the producer’s vision for Dark Rift (later renamed Dark Void), the hardware engineering team at Capcom was enlisted to design and produce an all-new chipset that would be included in every cartridge, enabling huge numbers of sprites and never-before-seen special effects to be displayed on the aging NES® platform and the PlayChoice-10 NES arcade cabinet. Alas, time waits for no man and game developers are no exception. The dawn of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System® made the additional hardware requirements for Dark Void redundant. Capcom suspended development on Dark Void as it began to evaluate the SNES. Before long, the game was shelved and drifted into the annals of gaming history. Even the internal tape-based archives were lost due to an unfortunate magnet incident which even today is best left un-discussed. Dark Void became a legendary “lost project” at Capcom…until now. Nearly twenty years later the next gen version of the game, Dark Void, is back on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC! But to commemorate the game’s humble origins, Capcom has commissioned this recreation of the original 8-bit classic, now re-titled “Dark Void Zero,” on the DSi platform. You play Rusty, the first human born in the Void, who must take on the Watchers in a quest to stop their domination of Earth. With the aid of Nikola Tesla, and his state-of-the-art rocket pack, Rusty must take down the Watchers and their minions across three intense levels of action and intrigue. Set in a parallel universe called “The Void,” players take on the role of Will, a pilot dropped into incredible circumstances within the mysterious Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival, joining forces with a rebel human group called The Survivors. Trapped in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth.
In the age of digital content all of our old faves growing up are fair game for the PSN and XBLA universe. Take for example Final Fight. I spent many a quarter playing this in the Circle K down the road from my Junior High School. I was happy to get up early and go to school because instead of wandering the halls I left to the C-store to get my Fight on. Capcom has helped us relive our younger years through XBLA and PSN in the past so why stop now? Next year around the month of April Capcom will release Final Fight: Double Impact as well as Magic Sword in a Double attempt to wrest our hard earned moola from us. Click on past the break for the full press release and some screenshots. SAN MATEO, Calif. — December 1, 2009 — Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Final Fight™: Double Impact will be coming to PlayStation®Store and Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network in April 2010. This digital release will house not one, but two awesome Capcom classics – Final Fight™ and Magic Sword. Final Fight: Double Impact is a dual release of two classic arcade side-scrolling beat-em-ups. First up is Final Fight, where players follow the heart-pounding adventures of Cody, Guy, and Haggar – three heroes fighting their way across crime-ridden Metro City in hopes of saving Haggar’s daughter from the evil clutches of Mad Gear. There are 6 stages filled with perilous challenges where the only hope for justice is the unique fighting techniques mastered by each character. With the news released today that Cody and Guy will both be playable characters in Super Street Fighter® IV, Capcom fans now have the chance to take a trip down memory lane and experience these characters in their first appearance before playing them in the new Street Fighter® game. In Magic Sword, users will take on the role of the “The Brave One,” a fierce warrior who bears the daunting responsibility of cleansing evil forces from an ancient tower. As a consequence of his actions, he will inevitably meet the source of this scourge upon humanity – the dark lord Drokmar. But fear not as the hero is accompanied by eight allies who will lend their assistance through out the game. All of them bring specific skills and talents to contribute to the fight. It’s an amazing side-scrolling action illustrated in classic fantasy stylings, making a perfect pairing with Final Fight. Final Fight: Double Impact will make the classics look better than ever by utilizing Capcom’s proprietary graphics engine to make the games shine in crisp and clear HD glory. Alternatively, purist pixel junkies can toggle back to a classic and arcade cabinet modes to render the game in its original form. Complementing the new visuals is new selectable soundtrack adapted by the highly acclaimed composers responsible for Bionic Commando®: Rearmed.
